I too have read of the different "stages" of this monster. The main concern of mine is; there seem to be problems with one stage that haven't appeared but issues from a higher stage may be present. The earliest projections of diagnosis' were that you had CRPS I or CRPS II, while this seems to be the most accurate the before mentioned scenario seems to duplicate itself here as well. I have deduced there are two stages to this monster, that is BAD and WORSE and everything else is a mute issue. The biggest deficiency seems to be in the more advanced stages and when these symptoms are present one is a very ill person, so a symptom conflict is not as important as is the treatment. I like Patches feel that Dr Hooshmand's info here might be worthy of another look. He has done a great service to the RSD community and I am in no way belittling his work, but when one gets this sick a really agressive treatment regimine is in order.

My pain doctor told me this week that there are many that are re-thinking the whole diagnosis and treatment norms, and some of the information that was once conisidered as gospel are being examined more closely. I asked that he keep me informed as we all need as much information as is available and any info I am able to glean I will forward.

Many blessings all, Gojogo

I was doing some research and came across this from the Nationl Guideline Clearinghouse's RSD/CRPS Clinical Practice Guidelines.  (http://www.guideline.gov/summary/summary.aspx?ss=15&doc_id=4117&nbr=3162 ).

"The staging of RSD/CRPS is a concept that is dying. The course of the disease seems to be so unpredictable between various patients that staging is not helpful in the treatment of RSD/CRPS. Not all of the clinical features listed below for the various stages of RSD/CRPS may be present. The speed of progression varies greatly in different individuals. Stage I and II symptoms begin to appear within a year. Some patients do not progress to Stage III. Furthermore, some of the early symptoms (Stage I and II) may fade as the disease progresses to Stage III. The following stages are presented in these guidelines merely for historical significance."

I was looking for this piece the day I posted Thanks for finding it Reta!
